Item description from seller

Near Fine . In a Most Attractive light green/sumptuously bright gilt decorated full cloth binding. ( Green colour in photos is somewhere between the two shown) Now in a new protective, removable, clear film cover. ALL hinges TIGHT. All Page Edges Bright Gilt. The top and bottom of the spine are a little pushed and the very tops of the corners are very slightly 'turned' - all from circa 150 years of storage, but really negligible. SUPERB COVERS. SEE IMAGES. Internally, a very faint former owners name and location and a small dark stamped (? ) 'fleur de lys' on the front, dark brown, free endpaper (I had to get a magnifying glass out to read it! ) . This same 'fleur de lys' is stamped in purple on the top of the blank section of the first chapter on page 1. Otherwise NO marks or other notes, or similar, anywhere that I can see, in the book. No date but the introduction is by the author Edith Waddy, Endcliffe, BRISTOL, 1873. So the date is likely 1873/1874. Pages = I - viii +151. A Lovely full colour frontispiece and II other fine b/w full page illustrations, together with numerous b/w text illustrations. The illustrator, William Dickes (1815-1892) , was an English illustrator, engraver, printmaker and lithographer. Dickes specialised in illustrating books on natural history such as works by Anne Pratt and was a licensee of the Baxter Process of printing. The book is overall VERY CLEAN, TIGHT and BRIGHT. A Delightful little book, in one of those beautiful Victorian gilded bindings of which we see fewer and fewer now. SEE IMAGES. ; 12mo 6" - 7" tall.
