Published in Shrewsbury, Shropshire in 1774 title pages undated, this is the First Edition of this work by the famous Wesleyan Minister John Fletcher, who was residing in Madeley in Shropshire at the time of publication, there is a foot note to the title page where it states that the book can be sold to the Poor at Madeley at half price, bound in an old full leather binding, just under 7 inches tall, the main section of the book is divided into two parts, each with its own title page, the post script identifies the author in the letters from Richard Hill of Hawkstone, whereas the title pages omits his name, the binding has some signs of wear with cracking to joints on both boards, boards loosened but holding, some corner wear to bards, internally old ownership name to front endpaper, the free front endpaper has been clipped along top edge, probably to remove a previous ownership inscription, some mild foxing to opening and closing few pages else contents generally nice and clean John William Fletcher, born Jean Guillaume de la Fléchère; (1729-1785) was a Swiss-born English divine and Methodist leader. Of French Huguenot stock, he was born in Nyon in Vaud, Switzerland. Fletcher emigrated to England in 1750 and there he became an Anglican vicar. He began to work with John Wesley, becoming a key interpreter of Wesleyan theology in the 18th century and one of Methodism's first great theologians.
