About this Item
AGATHA CHRISTIE - TOWARDS ZERO, published by Dodd Mead, copyright 1944, First (and only) Printing (no references to subsequent printings on copyright page - there was never a 2nd Dodd Mead printing), Red Badge contest ad to left of title page, map illustrated endpapers, brown cloth boards with dark brown lettering to spine & front board, $2.00 price on DJ front flap. PROBABLY THE 4TH RAREST OF CHRISTIE'S 1940s U.S. FIRST PRINTINGS (PRIMARILY DUE TO WAR TIME PAPER RATIONING). FOR EVERY 5-10 COPIES OF THE UK FIRST IN DUST JACKET YOU FIND FOR SALE YOU MIGHT FIND 1 U.S. FIRST PRINTING IN DUST JACKET UP FOR SALE.
Book has no creased page corners, no former ownership markings or used bookstore stamps inside, no foxing to pages or endpapers or outer page edges, slight dust soiling/age darkening outer page edges, clean endpapers with no soiling or staining, no splitting to internal hinges, no spine lean, no wear to board edges or board corners, slight wear to spine tips, small spot of surface paper loss on spine, slight spine sun darkening, no rubbing to spine lettering, slight handling/dust soiling to boards, couple of small moisture spots otherwise no soiling or discoloration to boards, no bumped board corners.
Dust jacket has shallow nick losses at spine tips otherwise no chipping, tearing or creasing, wear to spine tips & to front flap crease (nick losses at flap crease corners), just a hint of edge wear, slight spine sun fading (very common defect with this fragile dust jacket - much less than normally found with this dust jacket), no color rubbing to front panel which is very nice, hint of dust rubbing to white rear panel, no soiling or staining.
Overall a VG book in VG+ condition dust jacket (not price clipped) of a rare 1940s era Agatha Christie 1st printing. I have a number of other U.K. and U.S. Agatha Christie 1st printing hardcover books up for sale.
