10 vols. 8vo. 10 vols. 8vo. An interesting group of cheap editions of novels by the prolific Richard Marsh, whose novel The Beetle was one of the popular sensations of the late 1890s. Marsh made the rounds of London publishers during this time, including Methuen, and short-lived appearances with Pearson and Traherne. Richard Dalby identified Marsh as the pseudonym of Richard Bernard Heldmann (1857-1915), who served a term in prison in the 1880s after running up large debts under false names. The Devil's Diamond was the first work published under the pseudonym after his release. 1. The Devil's Diamond. With two plates. Text in two columns. 128 pp. Ward, Lock, n.d. 2/. Copyright Novels.
