First edition. Slim 8vo. 31pp stapled into card wrappers featuring a handsome decoration accredited to 'M.S.' The wrappers toned, rubbed, chafed and creased. The staples rusted and partially defective with the central leaf detached as a result and laid-in. Some fox spotting throughout. A good copy only. Iris Murdoch's first bookform appearance, her four poems ('The Phoenix-Hearted', 'Star-Fisher', 'The Coming of April', and 'Lower than the Angels') appearing here sixteen years prior to the publication of her first novel.
