Edith Wharton's tale of war follows the story of teenager Try Belknap as he enlists as a soldier in order to defend France during the First Battle of Marne of the First World War. A novel that reveals the grim realities of war through the rose-tinted lenses of the character, who filters reality due to his heroic ambitions. Edith Wharton was an American author, the first woman to receive a Pulitzer Prize in Literature. She was inducted in the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1996.
