First edition, large 8vo, pp. xiv, 85, [1], [942]; lexicon in double column, plus chronological tables and errata; minor spotting and staining, full original reversed sheep, red gilt-lettered morocco spine label; generally a very good copy. Based on the work of Johnson and Walker, this dictionary, by a member of a distinguished New Jersey family, is marked by inconsistencies and poor editing. Not unsurprisingly, this is the only edition of it. "A massive but predominantly derivative dictionary, compiled by a youthful Coxe largely before reaching eighteen" (Felcone).
