477p., first edition, original green illustrated boards, fore-edge leaves uncut; dustjacket rear slightly rubbed, chipped along front top-edge, small tears on dj corners and some edgewear, clipped dj, small bookstore plate on paste-down endpaper, endpapers somewhat toned from glue, else in very good condition. Early novel on the Spanish Civil War. "On the opening page one is introduced to Caro and Mudarra, workers in the olives groves, both anarchists. These two friends become estranged by their sexual passion for the same woman and later reunited by their social passion for the same ideal." (dustjacket blub).
