Over six hundred terms used internationally in the preparation, production and distribution of books concisely described and explained - entries include proof correction; paper sizes; typesetting, printing and binding processes, techniques and machines; blockmaking and platemaking; as well as the various sales, editorial and administrative functions performed in publishing.
Henry Jacob has been Head of Publications of the British Museum (1961-71) and of the National Gallery of Canada (1971-73). He was course director of the British Council book production course in Dar es Salaam in 1973, and has directed publishing seminars and undertaken feasibility studies for UNESCO in Jamaica, Mauritius, Vietnam and Nepal.
