London, H. Bailliere, 1848. 8vo (22.0 x 14.2 cm) xxi, 464 pp., Frontispiece and eight further engraved plates, 241 woodcuts in the text (one hand-coloured). Original brown, blind-stamped cloth. Gilt title on the spine. = Rare first edition published in the Library of illustrated standard scientific works series. With four illustrated leaves of Bailliere scientific publications. Inscribed and dated by two former private owners on the front pastedown and front free endpaper. Rebacked, with much of the original spine cover. Most plates foxed in the margins. Otherwise very good.

We offer airmail (priority) anywhere in the world at cost. Alternatively we can send through courier, like Fedex, UPS, TNT. Please enquire to get a quote. To keep the cost for the customer as low as possible, we do not charge any additional costs. All our shipments are automatically insured.
