Illustrated Serial Edition revised and enlarged, 6 volumes, 4to, continuous pagination, preceding the title pages of the volumes are a total of 28 mounted photographs (collotypes?) of leading British men, each within a printed oval frame; 1 mounted facsimile letter, and 2 plates reproducing portraits of Gladstone; each volume is also profusely illustrated with wood-engravings in the text. Joints rubbed on volume I, minor wear at extremities, otherwise near fine and bright in original pictorial red cloth elaborately stamped in gilt and black on upper covers and spines.
