Qu'est-ce que la logistique ? L'objet de cet ouvrage est d'en clarifier le champ, d'en expliciter les fondements, de situer ses rapports avec l'entreprise, d'identifier le travail du logisticien et sa boîte à outils. À l'origine confinée au registre militaire et à l'optimisation de problèmes pratiques secondaires, la logistique, en prenant pour cible l'entreprise, est rapidement devenue " stratégique ". En s'intéressant délibérément au suivi des flux physiques, elle a permis de développer une approche résolument transversale de l'organisation à même de répondre au contexte économique contemporain.
La logistique se fait aussi hospitalière, événementielle, humanitaire, polaire... Au-delà de cette vogue, il y a un risque de dilution de sa spécificité organisationnelle. En effet, la logistique est une manière particulière d'aborder les problèmes de pilotage d'une organisation : une perspective qui porte une grande attention au problème de la mise en œuvre effective. Finalement, la logistique apparaît comme une démarche stratégique de mise en œuvre organisationnelle.

About the Author
Pascal Lièvre , docteur en économie de la production de l'université Lyon-II, est maître de conférences (HDR, université Aix-Marseille-II) en sciences de gestion à l'IUP de management de Clermont-Ferrand. Il enseigne la logistique depuis 1996 à des étudiants de niveau bac + 2 et bac + 4. Il est chercheur au CRET-LOG à Aix-en-Provence, ainsi qu'au Centre de recherche clermontois de gestion et de management. Depuis 2000, il est responsable d'un programme de recherche de logistique des situations extrêmes centré sur les expéditions polaires. Il a dirigé ou co-dirigé cinq ouvrages de logistique dont, en 2004, La Logistique entre management et optimisation ( éd. Hermès).
