In the south the sources of the Nile. Beautiful cartouche top right. Latin text on the back. The map was made by Gerard Mercator (1512-1594), based on the geographer Claudius Ptolemy. Hand-coloured copper engraving, published in Leiden in 1618 in "Theatrum Geografiae Veteris, (.)," Petrus Bertius. Dimensions (image): 32 x 48 cm.
