(New and accurate map of the canal from the city of Utrecht to Spakenburg on the Zuider Zee.) This map shows the towns of Urecht, de Bilt, Vuren, Zuilen, Baarn, Bunschoten, Eemnes and Spakenburg. This map consists of 2 parts which can be connected to create one map showing the complete canal. Copperplate etching / engraving on verge type hand laid paper with watermark. Description: Original engraved print from "Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid, vertoonende de opkomst, voortgang en ondergang der Actie, Bubbel en Windnegotie, in Vrankryk, Engeland, en de Nederlanden, gepleegt in den Jaare MDCCXX �", Amsterdam, 1720. (The Great Mirror of Folly, which is actually a collection on all printsmaps and text, published in 1720, satirizing the Englishman John Law, his Mississippi Company, and the international land and trading speculation in worthless shares of the South Sea Bubble of 1719-1720, which resulted in an international scandal.Artists and Engravers: Published by Wed. Ioachim Ottens. Condition: Excellent given its age. General age related toning and occasional light staining as visible on scan. Original middle fold as issued, which is partly backed because of slight paper separation. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: B53-05 The overall size is ca. 15.2 x 16.9 inch.
