Carte-de-Visite of W.M. Thackeray, approximately 65mm x 100mm in size, n.d. c.1864? One or two spots of foxing, sitters name in pencil to head of reverse, reverse otherwise blank. Head and shoulders portrait within an oval, the National Portrait Gallery has a similar (though full size) portrait, see NPG Ax17819. They also have another very similar to this one, but published by The London Stereoscopic and Photographic Company, described as 'after' Ernest Edwards.
