The first edition dated 1969 referencing the Trucial States (the 2nd edition dated 1972 referenced the UAE). Colour printed paper map 146x106cm. Very good, neatly folded with two parallel lines of crinkling to one of the panels, and a short thin line of staining along one of the fold edges. Produced by The Survey Production Centre, Royal Engineers in 1968 and printed by them in 1/69 with air information current through 26 November 1968. Centred on Dhahran, this includes all of Bahrain and Qatar, the key Aramco locations in Saudi Arabian Eastern Province inland into Najd, small parts of the Abu Dhabi coast including Sir Bani Yas Island, and part of the Iranian coast. Highly detailed with colour tints for altitude, contours, spot heights, notes about terrain, and a glossary. Dating to a period of major growth for Aramco, this shows onshore and offshore oil installations include oilfields, oilfield lights, oilwells, wellhead towers, pipelines including Tapline with its Pumping Stations, and submerged pipelines, the refinery at Ras Tanura, etc, with corresponding features shown for Bahrain. Other details include various grades of road and track, wells, etc. Extensive aeronautical information includes major and minor aerodromes, alignment of runways, vertical obstructions, power lines, radio aids, and Prohibited, Danger and Caution Areas. This includes a huge area fanning out from Dhahran along the coast and into the interior. A large part of the Gulf of Bahrain (Dawhat Salwah) is indicated "no hydrographic information available". Various routes are marked as "approximate alignment" only.
