Item description from seller

An unusual embroidered valentine on paper displaying hearts and doves surrounded by leaves and flowers, 160 x 220 mm. laid down on old pink paper, possibly from an album, glazed and in an old maple frame. [NB. Not examined out of the frame] Slight damage to the paper at the top and the sides just within the embroidered border. Most embroidered valentines of the period were worked on a silk or cotton background, this is the first I have seen on paper which would have taken extremely fine needles and extraordinary skill to avoid ripping the paper.
