Stated "5 edition" June 1957. Colour paper map 70x102cm, folding down into ornately illustrated b/w wraps 14x20cm, beautifully illustrated and packed with information in Sahab's characteristic style. Texts primarily in English, with some Farsi. The main map, dated October 1956, 55 miles to 1 inch / 1:3,500,000 distinguishes administrative divisions, Ostans, provinces, Shahrestans and townships, with features including oil pipelines, rivers, settlements, airports, dry salt lakes, desert, swamps, unsurveyed streams and shorelines, elevations, boundaries, main motor routes, secondary routes, and railroads, with an index of towns and cities with their elevations and distances from Tehran. Many inset country maps show population distribution; forests; area; minerals; roads and communications (with table listing railway routes new and old); principal air routes; fauna and flora; tribal costumes (distinguishing Turks, Turkmans, Kurds, Lurs, Bakhtiaris, Samis Arabs); industries, factories and handicrafts; some important monuments and interesting sites; and relief. Two sections show heights of various locations above sea level. And a world map shows Iran's size and location. Map very good, neatly folded with some creasing, wraps good, worn at the edges.
