BLAEU Editeur, L'une des cartes les plus décoratives des îles Baléares publiée par un cartographe néerlandais. Comprend des monstres marins, des navires, des armoiries royales et un élégant parchemin de titre. Joan Blaeu (23 septembre 1596 - 21 décembre 1673 ; également appelé Johannes Blaeu) était un cartographe néerlandais né à Alkmaar, fils du cartographe Willem Blaeu. En 1620, Blaeu devint docteur en droit mais il rejoignit le travail de son père. En 1635, ils publièrent l'Atlas Novus (titre complet : Theatrum orbis terrarum, sive, Atlas novus) en deux volumes. Joan et son frère Cornelius reprirent l'atelier après la mort de leur père en 1638. Blaeu devint le cartographe officiel de la Compagnie néerlandaise des Indes orientales comme son père avant lui. Tiene poca toponimia, pero en la parte continental están identificadas las ciudades de Valencia, Tortosa, Tarragona y Barcelona. Fue incluido en el notable Atlas Novus, la obra más significativa de Blaeu y uno de los mejores atlas de la historia. Coloreado a mano, incluye un elegante título sobre un listón, dos escudos de armas, dos pequeñas rosas de los vientos, algunas embarcaciones y monstruos marinos, muy característicos de la cartografía holandesa del siglo XVII. Willem Janszoon Blaeu (1571-1638) fue un prominente editor y geógrafo holandés. Reverso con texto informativo en francés sobre la geografía de las islas. Autor: Willem Blaeu (ref. Institut Cartogràfic de Catalunya). Posiblemente proviene del Atlas Novus, editado por Blaeu en 1635-58. Blaeu utilizó las planchas de Ortelius para este Atlas, pero fue añadiendo mapas propios en ediciones sucesivas. Estado: doblez central (por provenir de un libro). Roces, cortes y pequeñas pérdidas de papel en márgenes. Manchitas del tiempo.
