A single unfold leaf 21x27cm printed to both sides. Good, used, with spotting and ink annotations. RAF Habbaniya, established in 1936, was a major air base on the west side of the Euphrates, close to Baghdad. It included the Air HQ for the Iraq Command, communications, maintenance units, an aircraft depot, an RAF hospital, RAF Iraq Levies barracks, the RAF Armoured Car Company depot, fuel and bomb stores, numerous billets, messes and extensive leisure facilities. During 1946-58 GCHQ ran a large Cold War related signals intelligence monitoring station here. The recto features the approach chart showing the environs on a scale of 1:250,000, with elevation section, notes, and approach marked. The verso has a plan of the landing strip and some of the adjacent buildings on a scale of 1:25,000 with notes on lighting, special warnings, and radio facilities.
