Java by Augustus Petermann.(Old Maps, 19th Century Maps, Asia, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Java, Jakarta, Batavia). Issued 1885, Edinburgh by J. Bartholomew. Fascinating and uncommon long detailed mountain height comparison diagram across the bottom. Names dozens of specific mountains giving their heights. Nicely detailed late-19th century color lithographed miniature map. Minor light toning and small scattered age spotting as typical for maps of this vintage, perhaps small minor paper flaws, but to our eyes and for most people, an entirely acceptable and nice looking example of this antique map. Sheet measures c. 10 1/4" x 6 1/4". Printed area measures c. 9" x 5 1/4". Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmakers, vol. 1, pp. 90-92.[B13730].
