Colour folding map 50 x 64cm dissected in 15 sections on linen, folding down to 14 x 21cm with flexible grained burgundy cloth panels back and front, with printed title label. Near fine, except for small 2mm patch of loss (just below the last "a" of Mediterranean Sea), tanned, with some light rippling to the paper. Cloth panels fine. This dates to the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, which weakened and diminished the Ottoman Empire. Scale 69.16 English Statute Miles and 66.67 Turkish Miles to 1 inch. The area is bounded by parts of Bulgaria (NW), the Caspian (NE), the head of the Persian Gulf (SE), and the Nile delta (SW), with an enlarged inset for Crete or Candia. Ottoman Imperial divisions are shown in colour. Features include railways, Crimean War battle sites (1853), the location of Arab tribes etc, with relief shown by hachures and heights in feet. This appears to be very rare - Worldcat has two records (OCLC 557756840 and 557724395), neither of which with holdings identified. None on Jisc. Seller Inventory # 3909
