Item description from seller

MAP, Manuscript, USA, New York State. This is a manuscript map, drawn in pencil on laid paper, by "George W. Safford", probably done as an adolescent, and again probably pre-Civil War (US). 11"x 7.5". There is no overt mention of a date, and there is no watermark in the (fairly fine) paper. The drawing is assured and restrained, with an interesting flair in the printing of the states' names and mountains. This map presents the state of New York, just fitting in Montauk and with a little room for Staten Island. There is an okay representation of the rivers and mountain, though very little detail beyond that. There are a good number of enumerated locations/rivers/etc.--unfortunately there is no index or key. Overall, though, this is rather charming, with some nice artistic flairs.Quite nice. VG condition.
