Colour printed paper map 49x35cm. Fine, neatly folded. This was prepared by Karta in Jerusalem for the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, from data published in The Statesman's Yearbook 1968-1969. It shows the Arab world from Morocco to Oman on a scale of about 1cm to 180km. Israel is shown defined by the 1967 Ceasefire lines including the recently Occupied Territories. The area of each country is given in km2. Populations are shown by the repetition of male figures drawn in stylised national dress, each figure representing 1M people. Issued after the Six Day War, it conveys a sense of a victorious Israel dwarfed by its hostile Arab neighbours.
