Water Supply and Irrigation Papers of the USGS No. 22, USGPO, 1899, in the paper by Burr Bassell (deputy city engineer of LA). 29"x 8.5", 8 old vertical folds. Crisp and bright.

The map follows a skeletal path from right around Santa Monica and Vermont, going west to the ocean for about 12 miles, the path of the sewer going past Vernon, Western, and Cypress, through Hyde Park, then to Inglewood, and on to the sea. "The city constructed an ?Outfall Sewer? running twelve miles to the Pacific?not in order to dump the sewage unused but to bypass squeamish suburbanites while reaching new irrigators who could pay the city directly for some of the flow on its way to the ocean.
