Lightly hand-colored 1874 of a large part of the Second Ward in Boston, which is in the North End of Boston, the oldest part of the city, now an integral part of Boston's Little Italy, which centers on North Square, present on this map. The ward map includes a strip of the Harbor, with a number of wharves, and some of the principal streets are Atlantic Avenue, Commercial Street, North Street, Hanover Street. A wonderful feature of the map is that it identifies the owners and/or businesses of each of the buildings or lots. The map measures 44 by 67 cm. It is scaled 100 feet to the inch. Folded vertically down the middle, it obviously was pulled out of a large ward atlas. Still, it works well as a standalone map, deserving of framing, as these maps have been done many a time. This copy is age toned, most evident around the perimeter. Besides that, there are a few very small stains but it is mostly clean. The hand-coloring in the case of this map is rather minimal, but it is an area then as now without much in the way of park and so there is no green applied.

The shipping cost provided automatically by ABE assumes that the item is the size of an average hardcover book. Since our stock is comprised largely of material which is bigger and heavier, we will often need to request additional shipping charges as a result. We pride ourselves on always packing safely, with the actual materials and method of packing depending on the item(s), where it is going, and with whom we are shipping. We most frequently use the post office, but on some high value items, or upon request, we may use alternatively UPS or FedEx. With the postal service, to domestic destinations with lower value items and the automatically furnished ABE shipping quote, we will usually use Media Mail; on higher value items we are partial to Priority or Express Mail. We will always seek to comply with a customer's wishes if they are communicated to us. When we seek additional shipping charges, we pass along those charges at our cost -- we do not add for handling or materials generally.
