Item description from seller

Very good. Minor verso reinforcements at some fold intersections. Exhibits minor repair to left border/margin. Size 26 x 32.25 Inches. This is a 1917 McGill-Warner railroad map of the western United States promoting the Great Northern Railway System. The map also marks the beginning of America's love affair with its national parks - here Glacier National Park is specifically highlighted. A Closer Look The map depicts from the Pacific Ocean to Chicago, Illinois and Mobile, Alabama and from southern Canada to Houston and San Antonio. The railroad network is extensively detailed with numerous lines identified. Five lines are highlighted in color: the Great Northern Railway System; the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad; the Spokane, Portland, and Seattle Railway; the Spokane and Inland Empire Railroad; and the Colorado and Southern Railway System. When this map was issued, all but the Spokane and Inland Empire Railway were subsidiaries of the Great Northern Railway Company. The Spokane and Inland, an electric railway extending from Spokane, Washington into northern and central Idaho, remained independent until it's 1929 merger with the Great Northern. Every stop along these five lines is identified, allowing for a thorough understanding of how these railroads interconnected. Glacier National Park is boldly highlighted, as the railroad provided direct access. Publication History and Census This map was created and published by the McGill-Warner Company in 1917. Two examples are cataloged in the OCLC and are part of the collections at Princeton University and the University of Montana. The McGill-Warner Company published several editions of this map, updating it regularly. All editions are scarce on the private market. References: OCLC 191078737.…
