This is a handsome map of western New York State in 1913, an early date for a road map. The legend tells the story. Main roads are colored in red. /good roads are colored in blue. Common roads are laid out in a thin black line. Railroads are also shown. This period was characterized by the appearance of marked trails associations which are absent this map. It is a bit too early for these designations on main roads. What is apparent is the regional focus of this map which is consistent with the thought of long distance travel by automobile. This map represents the expanding abilities of the roads to carry more traffic in an improved environment. Good having numerous separations at the folds.
