This handsome map was issued at the height of the Depression. It is a highly detailed map of Chicago transportation. It also addresses the street naming and locations. Chicago surface lines are designated by thin red lines in the center of the streets. The recto side has the northern part of the city to many blocks into Evanston above Howard Street. The southern street bounding this portion of the map is 35 th street. The east is bounded by Lake Michigan. The west is bounded by the DesPlaines River. There is a large inset map of the LoopElevated lines and interurban lines are shown. Railroads and their stations are depicted. Twenty-three railroads and six railroad stations are shown. There are also five interurban stations accounted for location. This map epitomizes the contemporary state of the art in one presentation. The urban complexities of transportation were completely captured by the composers. This is an excellent addition to any map collection. Very good with several seams repaired or reinforced with archival mending tape. 29 x 29 inches double sided map.
