Original Map - "Asia."

Original publisher's hand-colored engraved map of Asia. The map spans west to east from Arabia to Japan and Pacific Islands such as New Guinea. A beautiful map featuring pink, green, blue, orange, and yellow coloring along the border of the countries. Major cities are shown along with natural geographic features such as rivers, bays, oceans, and seas. Map with margins measures 10 1/2" x 8 1/4"; actual map area measures 9 1/2" X 7 5/8." Map is very clean and intact except for a few very small chips on the top and bottom edge and slight off-setting. Title and scale of distance in English Miles printed in upper-left corner. Lines of latitude and longitude also included. Underneath the map is the following information: "London; Published by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown, Paternoster Row, 1822." "XV" printed in upper-right corner. "Sidy. Hall del et sculp." printed in lower-right corner. Sidney Hall (1788-1831) was an English map publisher and engraver. He made a name for himself as a reputable engraver in the mapmaking industry. Upon Hall's passing in 1931, his wife, Selina Price Hall (1782-1853), who was a Welsh scientist and fellow map engraver, took over his business and signed her maps under the name, "S. Hall.".…
