Original publisher's hand-colored engraved map of Germany and Prussia. A beautiful map featuring blue and pink coloring along the borders of Germany and Prussia. Regions and states within Germany and Prussia are labeled such as Wurtemmberg, Hanover, Mecklenburg, Uckermark, Thuringia, and Saxony. Major cities are shown along with natural geographic features such as rivers, the North Sea, Baltic Sea, and Gulf of Venice. Map with margins measures 8 1/4" x 10 1/2"; actual map area measures 7 1/4" x 9 3/4." Map is very clean and intact except for slight off-setting and a horizontal center fold line. Title, scale of distance in English Miles, and "VII" printed in lower-right corner. Lines of latitude and longitude also included. Underneath the map is the following information: "London; Published by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown, Paternoster Row, 1822." and "Engraved by Sidy. Hall, Bury Strt. Bloomsby." Sidney Hall (1788-1831) was an English map publisher and engraver. He made a name for himself as a reputable engraver in the mapmaking industry. Upon Hall's passing in 1931, his wife, Selina Price Hall (1782-1853), who was a Welsh scientist and fellow map engraver, took over his business and signed her maps under the name, "S. Hall.".
