Engraving, 33.5 x 43.5 cm, old color (green slightly oxidized). An uncommon plan of Gibraltar published by the Dutch cartographer and bookseller Pieter Husson (1678-1733) to illustrate a theater of the War of the Spanish Succession. The Capture of Gibraltar by Anglo-Dutch forces of the Grand Alliance occurred between 1 and 4 August 1704. From Husson's "Variae Tabulae Geographicae," The Hague, ca. 1710, which included mostly maps by Amsterdam cartographers but also a few maps designed by Husson himself. Seller Inventory # 006789
