Engraved map with contemporary outline hand colouring, 400 x 470 mm. with central fold and a few closed tears to the blank border. Most commonly seen as a double hemisphere map, this is a similar map to that used by Harris for his various jigsaws and board games. Gaultier was a French educationalist who fled the Revolution, settling in England; he believed in teaching geography by the use of games.
