Very good. Professionally restored. Slight wear along fold lines. Backed on archival paper for stability. Size 21.5 x 16 Inches. This is a rare c. 1920 Japanese map of the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. The map is undated, and likely dates from the early twentieth century. It prominently features rail and shipping lines, undersea telegraph lines, geographical features (including ??), major urban areas, and important rail junctions like Ogden, Utah (????). Given the prominence of infrastructure, this map would possibly have been used for governmental purposes, such as in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Publication History and Census This appears to have been part of a larger map, or possibly map series - although no other maps from the series are known. The title, the reference to the Great Wall of China (????) in the legend, and the odd framing of this map (which cuts off most of Canada and South America and the western coast of the United States) all suggest so. Based on the aesthetics of the map, the reference to underwater telegraph lines, and the rail lines included on the map, this map likely dates from to c. 1920.
