Size: 610 x 490 mm. Rare original hand-coloured large-scale map of the Torbay area extending from Teignmouth in the North to Startpoint in the South. A single sheet from Donn's highly important large-scale atlas of twelve maps surveying the whole County of Devon. This was the first large-scale map published of any county, pre-dating the Ordnance Survey by many years. These accurate and beautifully engraved maps are remarkably clearly defined, and represent a major contribution to the history of cartography.
