An original 1853 survey map show the results of the efforts to reduce Pot Rock at Hell Gate in the East River to improve navigation. Shows the original configuration, and then the results of 1852 and 1853 reduction efforts. ~15-1/4" x 12-1/2"; folded size is ~9" x 5-1/2". Split along a vertical fold. Chipping along the upper left edge, outside the border. 1/2" loss at the lower left edge (affecting the border, but not the image). Some age-toning. ; 27B.
