Erdkarte in Mercator's Projection. (Old Maps, 19th Century Maps, World Maps, Mercator's Projection, Austria, Lake Torrens, Polar Regions, Explorations) Issued 1859, Gotha Germany by Perthes for Ad. Stieler. Cartography by Berghaus. Shows the fictitious hook shape to Lake Torrens. Also of note for the scattering of specific places names with dates along the coast of the southern continent Antarctica. Scarce mid-19th century antique map. Engraved with original outline hand color. Sheet displays small minor signs of age, some centerfold toning, light evidence of some handling, but overall still clean and well preserved. Fine patina and visual appeal. Original fold line as issued. Sheet measures c. 14" x 17". Printed area measures c. 12 3/4" x 14 3/4". We guarantee the condition of every item as it's described on the Abebooks web sites. If you're dissatisfied with your purchase, you're eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date.
