An antique map of Yorkshire: North Riding &c., England, drawn by George Cole and engraved by John Roper, taken from "The British Atlas; Comprising a Complete Set of County Maps of England and Wales; with a General Map of Navigable Rivers and Canals and Plans of Cities and Principal Towns", printed for Vernor, Hood, Sharpe & others, 1807-10. Hand-coloured. Contains legend, scale in miles, compass rose with fleur-de-lis pointing north and reference to Hundreds. Measures around 9 3/4" x 8 3/8" (250mm x 213mm). Plate no. 43. The map contains a central vertical fold. There are signs of wear with a tear at the head edge and a little loss. Very minor foxing and other marking, some offsetting but very clean for age.
