Cover letter for returning poetry writings: "Je vous renvoi les joli vers que vous avez eu la bonté de m'envoyer pour lire [.]". - During a journey to London in 1878, Tosti made several powerful friends and was introduced to the highest echelons of English society. In 1880 he became singing master to the Royal Family, his composition "For Ever and For Ever" turned out to be an immediate favourite, and by the year 1885 he was the most popular composer of songs in the late Victorian Era. - With embossed address and traces of old mounting on the verso.
