Add to basketAn anti- "Ham & Eggs" movement pamphlet, arguing against the act in the interest of the state's economy. California's "Ham and Eggs" movement gained traction in the 1930s, and sought a large-scale state-funded pension. The name came from the movement's argument that pensioners would spend the money immediately on food and goods (e.g. ham and eggs) to avoid long-term taxes on the income, thus boosting the state's overall economy in the process. The present pamphlet largely highlights the new costs for average citizens necessary in order to fund the proposed act. Presented in a "Q&A"-style format, with a cartoon illustration of a man surrounded by buzzwords. Measures approx. 9" by 4" folded. "Not only is the 'Ham and Eggs' plan a scheme which would prostrate California as a State, and wreck whatever personal security Californians now enjoy-- it is a collossal piece of fakery.".
