1 S. Format: 104:55 mm. "For Sabine, sincerely Stefan Lorant". - 1901 in Budapest geboren, machte sich Lorant im Alter von 18 Jahren mit seiner Geige auf den Weg nach Wien. Dort spielte er auf Empfehlung von Franz Kafka in einem Tetschener Stummfilm-Kino und drehte in Wien, sp�ter auch in Berlin, verschiedene Filme. Hier trug sich die am�sante Anekdote mit Marlene Dietrich zu: Jener gab er nach Probeaufnahmen den Rat, sie solle nach Hause gehen und heiraten. Nach einigen Filmproduktionen wurde er 1927 zum Berliner Schriftleiter der "M�nchner Illustrierten Presse" berufen, die unter seiner Leitung zu einer der f�hrenden Bilderzeitungen mit einer Auflage von �ber 1 Mio. wurde. Am 30. I. 1933 fand Lorant mit dem AP-Photographen Borchert den Weg in die Reichskanzlei und brachte von dort die ersten Bilder von einer Kabinettsitzung Hitlers nach M�nchen. Bald wurde er mitsamt seiner Frau Njura wegen "bolschewistischer Umtriebe" in Schutzhaft genommen. Nach Protesten der ungarischen Regierung wurde er nach sechsmonatiger Haft entlassen. In Budapest verfasste er ein Manuskript mit dem Titel "I was Hitler's Prisoner", welches in England mit einer Millionenauflage zum Bestseller wurde. 1935 gr�ndete Lorant in England die "Weekly illustrated", welche als Vorbild der sp�teren "LIFE" war. Gemeinsam mit Edward Hulton gr�ndete er 1938 die ber�hmte "Picture Post", zu deren Mitarbeiter auch Winston Churchill z�hlte. 1940 erfolgte die Auswanderung in die USA.

Through specially prepared archive catalogues we have been able to sell the archives of Viktor L�on (librettist, 1859-1940), Leo Fall (operetta composer, 1873-1925), Lotte Lehmann (singer, 1888-1976), Otto Tressler (actor, 1871-1865) and Max Reinhardt (director, 1873-1743), as well as the last privately owned important original manuscripts by Ludwig Wittgenstein (philosopher, 1889-1951). Along the lines of this specialization our buying policy concentrates especially on these fields.
