4to. (24 cm.) unpaged [24p.]. Profusely illustrated with 36 black and white captioned photos including a double-page photo at the center of the hospital. Stapled booklet in stiff deckel-edged cream-colored wrappers with letters in black and with a color vignette on the front cover of a blooming yucca plant. Decorative endpapers which show a stylized map of the LA area with important landmarks noted in relation to the Glendale Sanitarium. Laid in is a printed piece about the size of a business card that has several sayings about "True Obedience" on it. Just hints of wear to extremities, covers clean and bright, corners square and flat, no rust on the staples, all photos in fine condition, else fine with no internal markings. The Glendale Sanitarium was opened by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in 1905 in the former Glendale Hotel, purchased from real estate developer Leslie C. Brand. The facility described in this pamphlet opened in 1924. Today the center is known as the Glendale Adventist Medical Center. The little printed piece with quotations on obedience may have been something given to patients, which was a practice of this era at sanatoria such as Firlands in Seattle. Not in OCLC.
