Broadcast in the Radio 3 series (on music) I Know What I Like, Saturday 2 August 1980, with the subtitle "The Road from Blackpool Pier" (and reported in The Listener, 7 August, "Blackpool Prom"). "Earlier this year I published some memoirs of my childhood and youth, called Souvenirs. The book told of my upbringing on what I characterised as 'pier-end' music.
