2 page letter. Quarto (10 1/2" x 8") on "Mississippi River Commission" stationary letter head. Hand written signed by George H Wolbrecht. Letter discusses problem 57 of the Globe Democrat he remarks that it was the most difficult puzzle he had tackled. He mentions his trip to New York for the cable match with England and his stop over in Chicago where he had shown this problem to a number of players there. While in Brooklyn he showed it to Barry, Napier, Fox Curt Bampton, Morgan and a few others who took from one to four hours to solve. He feels that the problem has become famous and congratulates Dobbs on the authorship. A foot note mentions that the St Louis club had their boards all set to this problem and still didn't solve after eight hours. Condtion: Folds in the paper for mailing and small holes at points of intersection, slightly age darkened else a very nice copy. Seller Inventory # C0591
