An Original Handwritten Letter Signed by Actor Sir Johnston Forbes-Robertson to Major-General Herbert Francis Eaton, 3rd Baron Cheylesmore. Dated 1914. The letter declines the help to act in a play due to his commitments in the British Women's Hospital Charity. Sir Johnston Forbes-Robertson 1853-1937 was an English actor and theatre manager and husband of actress Gertrude Elliot. He was considered the finest Hamlet of the Victorian era and one of the finest actors of his time. Major-General Herbert Francis Eaton, 3rd Baron Cheylesmore, 1848-1925 was a British Army officer, sportsman, and peer. He was Chairman of London County Council, chairman of the National Rifle Association and presided over courts martial during the First World War. Size is 165mm x 120mm. Condition is good.
