Chapbook with hand-colored frontispiece, detailing the tragic and salacious history of George Barnwell, a young man seduced into shooting his uncle by a wicked "Woman of the Town" named Milwood. The story was particularly popular on the London stage in the 1820s. Approx. 20 copies in OCLC as of January 2023. 12mo (7.5" by 4.25"), pp. 24, with hand colored frontispiece (possibly by Robert Cruikshank), sometime disbound from near-contemporary purple wrappers, (original?) sewing still intact. Fair. Toning, sunning, dust soiling, spotting, and some minor short tears. Some wear to extremities. Seller Inventory # 22000927
