Wonderful pictorial envelope, 3.5 x 6.25", printed on both sides. ______ The rear is filled with the image of an impressive male lion looking appropriately fierce. There is bordering text extolling "The Great / Stock Raising / County / of / Kansas."______ Postally used and opened roughly with loss to the back half of the lion's head. ______ The front side has the real estate dealers' slug across the top. ______ The accompanying manuscript letter is on Holmes & Holden letterhead and is dated "1880". ______ It was written to a Virginia man who had apparently inquired about the value and prospects for the sale of some land he owned in the Kansas county. ______ It mentions an enclosed map of the county showing the lands in question. ______ Unfortunately that map is not present.
