Set of 30 playing card sized cards showing the hand/flag signals used to communicate in semaphore. Contained within a buFf coloured envelope with red lettering. The envelope is grubby and fraying at edges, but is intact. The cards are all complete and in good order with the exception of the 'index' card, which has creasing and a small loss at the top. Also included is an instruction leaflet and a publisher's advertisement for the cards.The item is undated but the lettering on the envelope states that this is the 'Fiftieth Thousand'. The figures used to illustrate the various letters are dressed in military uniform, suggesting a date around the First World War, and the price 3d. Avery scarce item.
