(Oblong) 8vo and 4to. Ca. 7 pp. on 7 ff. With an autograph envelope. Postcard written on two photo cards. To the writer Roger Nimier. The letter dated 10 June 1951 requests him to proof-read a text personally so as to save the typographer from serious mistakes in the nuances of the words: "Avec [.] la pri�re superflue de relire personnellement le texte compos�. Que, seulement, typographe plein de z�le n'�crive pas 'moralisateur', et le plus de 'moralisme', 'plus qu'un abime: une nuance'! [.]". - Cover letter to Nimier, from 10 Nov. 1951, sending an article: "Voici mon article, plus long que je ne pensais pas [.] Partageons-nous la gloire [.]". - The letter of 20 Feb. 1852 discusses "Le Momento" in Rome with comments for the publication of his article, presumably also to Nimier: "R. P., en ce moment h�t� de rome / Article: . dont avec vous, h�tes chers, le romancier fran�ais R. P., l'auteur de 'A. P.' et Carlo Levi qui retrouve dans ce lieux l'humanit� de personnage de son livre 'Le Christ s'est arr�t� � Eboli' [.]". - In the quarto letter, dated 24 Feb. 1952, Peyrefitte regrets that "Op�ra", a weekly theatre newspaper of which Nimier was editor-in-chief, was not a success: "Une de vos amis m'apprend, avec tristesse, qu' 'Op�ra' n'est plus. Je viens vous dire, avec une mine de tristesse, tous mon regret de voir que votre bel effort n'a pas porter ses fruits plus longtemps [.]". - The postcard, dated 28 Feb. 1952, describes the infortune of being an old man while at the same time a "specialist in childhood", having just arrived in Taormina: "Il me semble �tre � l'�ge des b�tons; mais n'est-ce pas unid�al, pour un sp�cialiste de l'enfance? je viens d'arriver � Taormina, apr�s avoir lu � rome ce glorieux 'Op�ra' [.]". - The letter of 14 June 1854 offers hope for a reunion in Paris: "Je f�te le 14 j.t en vous �crivant. C'est pour vous envoyer mon souvenir amical de cette Sicile o� nous r�gn�mes, et pour vous sugg�rer de m'y envoyer les �preuves de la [.], que m'attendit peut-�tre � Paris. Plong� dans des nouveaux travaux [.] Je vous aime R". - Envelope with tears and defects to the margins, quarto letter shows few small tears to the margins. Letter dated 10 June 1951 slightly creased. Through specially prepared archive catalogues we have been able to sell the archives of Viktor L�on (librettist, 1859-1940), Leo Fall (operetta composer, 1873-1925), Lotte Lehmann (singer, 1888-1976), Otto Tressler (actor, 1871-1865) and Max Reinhardt (director, 1873-1743), as well as the last privately owned important original manuscripts by Ludwig Wittgenstein (philosopher, 1889-1951). Along the lines of this specialization our buying policy concentrates especially on these fields.
