Karl Weingartshofer war Optiker, Fotograf, Fotopublizist und Fachautor. 1852 erfolgte die Gründung des Betriebes in Wien, er war kurze Zeit Gesellschafter von C. Dietzler, ab 1854 Erzeugung von Objektiven, ab 1856 war sein Atelier in Wien gemeldet, 1857-1859 Herausgeber der Zeitschrift. "Fotografisches Album", ab ca. 1870 existierte ein Atelier "M.E.
